Antivert

Drug Uses

Antivert is an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally happening chemical histamine in your body. Antivert is used to treat sickness, vomiting, and dizziness linked with motion illness. Antivert may also be helpful in treating vertigo. This medicine may also be used for other purposes.

How Taken

Antivert comes as a normal and chewable tablet and a capsule. For motion illness, Antivert should be taken 1 hour before you begin to travel. Doses may be taken each 24 hours if needed. For dizziness caused by an ear situation, follow your doctor's instructions. Follow the instructions on your prescription label cautiously, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to give details any part you do not understand. Take Antivert exactly as heading for. Do not get more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. The chewable tablets may be chewed or swallowed whole.

Warnings/Precautions

This medicine may cause drowsiness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be unsafe until you know how you act in response to this medicine. This medicine will add to the effect of other depressants or alcohol. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. It is unknown if this medicine is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to talk about the risks to your baby.

Missed Dose

Since Antivert is usually taken as needed, missing a dose is usually not a problem. If you are taking Antivert on a regular schedule and you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take only your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.

Possible Side Effects

Stop taking Antivert and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives). Other, less serious side effects may be more probable to occur. Carry on to take Antivert and talk to your doctor if you knowledge drowsiness or dizziness; a dry mouth (may be relieved by sugarless gum, ice chips, saliva substitutes, or other products if bothersome); blurred vision; nervousness; insomnia; or constipation. Side effects other than those scheduled here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is specially bothersome.

Storage

Dispense in tight, light-resistant containers. Store at controlled room temperature 15°-30°C (59°-86° F).

Overdose

If overeat is supposed, contact your local poison control center or urgent situation room right away. Symptoms of overeat may include unusual excitability, drowsiness, hallucinations, very slow or shallow breathing, and seizures.

Antivert may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, counting antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, and muscle relaxants. Tell your doctor about all prescription and over-the-counter medicines that you are taking, and do not get any medicine without first talking to your doctor.
